MEET THE MASTERS - ART PROGRAM

Withrow started a phenomenal Art Program last year called Meet the Masters. The children learn about different artists who are considered “Masters” of their time in different techniques of art. Parents are a huge part of the program also because they do the classroom art lessons!!!! Last year we studied famous artists such as Van Gogh, Monet, Degas, and Mondrian. The students were so excited and the information that they learned transferred to other areas of their learning.

Research has shown that art is such an integral part of a student’s learning and it helps the brain to transfer knowledge to the language area so the kids are more successful in all areas. We have assemblies for each artist with an expert from Meet the Masters who shares about the artist’s life and their art work. The parents then attend a one-hour training with the expert. They learn how to implement the art lesson in the classroom and they become the art teachers!!!

The kids, parents and teachers love it our Meet the Masters program. We held an unbelievable Art Show at the end of the year. The talent of our students was phenomenal!!! We are continuing this year with Picasso, DaVinci, Kahlo, and Matisse. It has been a huge positive impact to our school!

Please join us this year for the Meet the Masters! Contact Elisabeth.Brehm@leusd.k12.ca.us
