Principal's Message

Hello Withrow Students and Families,

I would like to personally welcome you to Withrow Elementary. This school year brings us new opportunities for learning and growth both academically and socially as we prepare our students to be college and career ready.

This summer we had the opportunity to attend AVID (Achievement Via Individual Determination) Summer Institute for a second year. AVID's mission is to close the achievement gap for all students for college readiness and success in a global society. We were able to collaborate with educators around our great country to help implement new strategies and instructional approaches to help all our students.

We are truly excited to have a wireless campus with increased opportunities to incorporate instructional technology in our classrooms. We continue to build capacity of our school's technology by acquiring more devices. Our library continues to acquire more books that are common core aligned with high interest topics.

Our dedicated staff remains focused and continues to fine tune our implementation of Common Core State Standards, Professional Learning Communities, and our Local Control Accountability Plan. Our students will be taught academic and social skills that will better prepare them for higher learning and ultimately a better future in the competitive global community.

Our Physical Education teacher will continue to be at our site for one day every week. Through Professional Learning Communities, our teachers continue to collaborate and review academic data to identify students who need extra support and make plans to address their needs. We will also continue to have the services of full time intervention teachers to help our students close the achievement gap.

Our school has also implemented an arts program to provide school wide opportunities for our students. Our parent volunteers have provided valuable help in implementing this program in all classrooms.

Withrow exemplifies that positive results occur when staff, parents, and community members come together as a team to help our students succeed.

We look forward to working together to service the needs of all our students. Please contact me should you have any questions or concerns.

Respectfully,
