My name is Mrs. Abad and I am a proud first grade teacher at Withrow Elementary School. I have lived and taught in Lake Elsinore since 2007. I live with my husband and 3 children in Canyon Hills. I enjoy the beauty of the peaceful hills and hiking trails. However, nothing is better then the amazing view of the lake that can be seen from our school!
First grade is a pivotal year for a child's academic and social development. Socially, students will build up their sharing and listening skills, just to name a few. Academically, students will solidify their beginning phonetic skills to help them become strong and successful emergent readers. They will expand their understanding of number sense, including recognizing the numbers through 120, and the basics of addition and subtraction. First graders will learn about community, animal life cycles, and states of matter. The growth that is shown from the beginning of the year to the end is evidence of their hard work. I am inspired by working with first graders and look forward to working with your student this year.
